Bay view from room at the Corfu Palace Hotel
This was one of the finest hotels in Greece. Its proprietor Christos Fokas realised a childhood ambition when he bought it in 1991. From humble origins in Corfu, a successful business venture in Switzerland enabled him to raise the finance which put this grand place back into Corfiot hands. Its current reputation is due largely to the remarkable talents of its last general manager Costas Dendrinos. As well as the usual luxuries, a singular feature is the entertainment provided in its popular bar by Tzoulis Plaskasovitis a gifted pianist and Louise Cone who sings with a voice comparable to those of the sirens who tried to lure Ulysses on to the rocks whilst he and his companions were sailing back from their adventures in Troy. |
